AEROLUTS / DJI LUT GUIDE
LUT vs. filter: what DJI creators should know.
A filter is usually an in-app visual effect, while a .cube LUT is a colour file that compatible editors can import and apply to footage. LUTs are useful when you want a considered colour direction across DJI Mimo, CapCut, and desktop tools.
What a LUT does
A LUT maps one set of colour values to another. It gives you a repeatable starting point for contrast, colour balance, and overall mood after basic exposure and white-balance correction.
What a filter does
A filter is commonly built into a particular app and may combine colour changes with other visual effects. It can be convenient for one edit, but its settings may not transfer to another editor.
Which should you use?
Use an in-app filter for a quick edit. Use a .cube LUT when you want the same colour direction available across DJI Mimo, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and other compatible editors.
